United MMA Results - Europa Games Dallas, TX

It's 4:00 pm and the crew is all headed back to Southeast Texas from Dallas. We made it through the weekend without a phone charger at the venue so I apologize for not updating the United MMA page.

I won't lie when I say that the competition was Tough in Big D! As a team we started strong, lost some steam in the middle of the day, then finished pretty strong.

As usual Jag and Bryer Gray wrecked shop fighting around 10 matches each over the course of the day. Their divisions were huge but they both managed a gold and silver each. Some of the newer kids to the program went out there and made a good showing as well. I saw some tight armlocks and even tighter triangle chokes! I was very proud of them all for putting it on the line. Individual sports bring out the best in people. With time it develops a certain mental toughness that is unrivaled in team sports. Keep up the good work!

Now on to the adults....Not in a million years would I have imagined thatJustin Hardy would be our big horse in the race. Huge congrats for your hard fought silver medal in NoGi. Lots of matches!! He missed a Gold by one reversal that cost him against a very game fighter out of Allen Mohler's gym in Dallas. We had a few other medals from the adults. Doug Champagne had a war in the NoGi against a purple belt from Dallas to win Gold in Nogi. Yancey Zane Mcfalls won Bronze by beating a girl from Bruno Bastos' academy in Dallas only to get stopped by triangle choke to a girl from Marra Senki academy in San Antonio. I want a rematch in that one by the way. Small mistakes make you pay in jiujitsu Pants....POSTURE UP  Soon after Hayli B. Osment walked right through her first opponent by submission and lost her second by referee decision. We had the match won with 40 seconds left but made a tactical error and got swept...we won't do that again right Hayli????? Lol

I had several guys who struck out in their first or second tournament experience. Shake it off guys. 400 of the 800 competitors lost their first match. I've got a list of things to work on for you guys. Experience is everything in this game! Putting your @ss on the line takes guts and I'm proud of you all. We'll be shifting from tournament training and back to learning mode. You cant fight every day of your life in this sport. Be there ready to go Monday at 6:00!
