Pan American Champion and Best Selling Author Join Forces for Brazilian Jiujitsu Seminar
Local mixed martial arts gym United MMA will celebrate its one year anniversary by hosting a Brazilian jiu-jitsu seminar on Friday July 26, 2013. The seminar will be taught by five-time Pan American Champion and 4th degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Vinicius “Draculino” Magalhaes and Gracie Barra black belt Chad “Robo” Robichaux. The seminar begins at 6 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.
Magalhaes has more than 18 years of Brazilian jiu-jitsu experience and his accolades alsoinclude being the two time Brazilian national champion, a two time silver medalist at the world Brazilian jiu-jitsu championships and participating in the exclusive Abu Dhabi Submission Wresting World Championship. He is also the regional director for Gracie Barra in Texas.
In addition to holding a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Robichaux is a mixed martial arts veteran with a record of 19-2 with 17 of his 19 wins coming by way of submission. Robichaux has competed in the Bellator fight promotion and both Robichaux and Magalhaes are veterans of the Strikeforce mixed martial arts promotion.
“It’s pretty special to have them here at the school’s one year anniversary,” said Patrick Head, who also has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and is the head instructor at United MMA in Nederland, Texas.
In addition to the seminar, Robichaux will be promoting his best-selling book “Redeployed.” The book focuses on combat veterans returning to civilian life. It aims to help veterans cope with the common problems of post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, suicideand divorce. Robichaux is a former force recon marine who served eight tours of duty in Afghanistan. He has acted as a Resiliency Trainer for the U.S. military and has been flown to bases and installations around the world to speak about the problems combat veterans face along with his co-author Brian Fleming.
The seminar will be held at United MMA which is located at 605 N. Twin City Highway in Nederland, Texas. The book promotion is set to follow the seminar.
